OUR STORY
Akram Yh’s journey began in Iran, where the weight of social dictatorship stifled her dream of dancing tango and creating a community of connection and belonging. Determined to break free, she set out on a courageous path, leaving Iran to follow her passion.
Her journey took her from Iran to Turkey, then to Malaysia, and finally to Argentina, where she immersed herself in the heart of tango. There, she trained with some of the greatest masters of the dance, including renowned Argentine instructor Silvio La Via, whose guidance shaped her artistry and dedication.
After honing her skills in Argentina, Akram made her way to California, where she found the space to reflect, refine her technique, and share her passion. She began training individuals who, like her, longed for a deeper connection through dance. Recognizing the profound impact of dance on personal growth and social interaction, she saw a unique opportunity to extend her program to support the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) community.
Today, Akram Yh is more than a dancer, she is a visionary community builder. Through her work, she empowers individuals to find expression, joy, and a sense of belonging on the dance floor.
