OUR STORY
Casa De Tango was born from a personal longing for movement, connection, and the freedom to express through dance.
Our founder, Akram Haghighi, was born in Iran, where dancing was forbidden. The desire to move, to express joy and emotion through the body, lived within her even when it could not be realized. That changed after she left Iran around 20 years ago. As soon as she could, Akram began taking dance classes. Wherever she lived, across continents and cultures, she followed rhythm and human connection through movement.
Tango was the form that changed everything. It wasn’t just a dance, it was a language of emotion, silence, and intimacy that resonated more deeply than anything else. Eventually, Akram moved to Buenos Aires, where she spent eight years immersed in the culture of tango. She trained with masters, danced through the nights, and absorbed not only the steps but the spirit and soul of the tradition.
With nearly two decades of dancing and many years of teaching, Akram founded Casa De Tango to bring that spirit to others. Casa De Tango is not just a place to learn steps, but a space to listen, to feel, and to connect through this powerful art form.
Through classes, workshops, and performances, Casa De Tango creates opportunities for people of all backgrounds to experience tango in a meaningful way. We aim to preserve its authenticity while keeping it alive in a modern context.
Now based in the United States, Casa De Tango is committed to building a vibrant, welcoming tango community. We believe tango teaches presence, trust, and communication without words. In every step, there is a chance to rediscover yourself, and we invite you to do just that with us.
